We invite you to submit contributions to the VIRAK 2025 conference: Shaping the future. The conference will take place on June 4-5, 2025, in Drammen. The four main themes are: the student, the researcher, society, and the future. We aim to gather insightful and innovative contributions that can shed light on these themes from various perspectives.
Submit your contribution and be a part of VIRAK 2025!
- The Student: We encourage contributions that explore topics such as students today and in the future, the transition from high school to higher education, decentralized students, and continuous competence development. Other relevant topics may include reading, the joy of reading and the “reading crisis,” concentration skills, teaching and assessment methods. What do today’s or future students need from academic and public libraries?
- The Researcher: We seek contributions that look at changes in the research process and library support, as well as research support, research quality, and research topics in the future. Does the new researcher need librarians? What needs do today’s researchers have from academic libraries?
- Society: We invite contributions that cover topics such as democracy and public information, open research, knowledge distribution in society, artificial intelligence and source criticism, as well as seamless library services.
- The Future: This is an open category where we encourage contributors to submit proposals that they believe fit within the overall theme of the conference.
Submit before January 2
It is possible to propose contributions that fit into the following formats:
- Lecture (40 minutes)
- Demonstration (20 minutes)
- Panel debate (60 minutes)
- Presentation (20 minutes)
- Workshop (90 minutes)
A proposal (abstract) should not exceed 200 words. Remember to include the title, desired format, who is behind the presentation, and who will present, as well as which theme the contribution fits under.

Speakers at VIRAK 2025 will have the opportunity to submit an article on their topic to a special journal of the Nordic Journal of Information Literacy in Higher Education.
